TAMULink is Texas A&M's campus wireless network that provides Internet and network access on the go. TAMULink primarily uses Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) for greater security and easier access for Texas A&M faculty, staff, and students.
Connecting to TAMULink
When you view wireless networks at campus hotspots, you'll see three TAMULink options: **
- tamulink-wpa
- tamulink-help
- tamulink-guest
Connect to tamulink-wpa if you are a Texas A&M faculty, student, or staff who has already set up your computer to log in with WPA.
If this is the first time you are connecting to TAMULink, select tamulink-help and follow the instructions on the Set-up tab. If you are an authorized guest on campus and have received a guest username and password from Account Services, connect to tamulink-guest and log in.
If you are an iPhone or iPod Touch user, or have other special device needs, please bring your device into Help Desk Central and an account will be created for you.
To set up your computer for TAMULink-WPA, select the operating system you are using and follow the instructions given. If you are an iPhone or iPod Touch user, or have other special device needs, please bring your device into Help Desk Central and an account will be created for you.
Texas A&M Guest Accounts
Temporary guest accounts for use on the Texas A&M College Station network are available under the following conditions:
Requests for accounts must be made by a sponsoring Texas A&M or Texas A&M affiliate department.
Send an email request to account-services@tamu.edu and include the following information:
- Name of the sponsoring department
- Brief description of the relevant event or reason for the guest account
- Name and NetID of the departmental sponsor requesting the account for the guest
- Name, phone number, and email address of the guest
- Starting and ending dates and times that the access is desired
- The service that is required - TAMULink-guest
There is no charge for a temporary guest account.
A guest account should only be issued to a single individual and should not be reused.
To ensure that the guest accounts can be created and issued in time, we would prefer the request be sent at least 48 hours before the needed date. In the event of an emergency request, please call 979.845.7223.
Departments requiring multiple accounts should call Account Services for special handling.

- What Is WPA?
WPA is a security technology for wireless networks, which scrambles or encrypts wireless traffic to protect information.
- How does WPA Improve TAMULink?
- Better security. WPA uses a more robust encryption protocol than previous technologies, making TAMULink safer.
- Easy to set up. You don't need to download any additional software because WPA uses your computer's built-in system features.
- Convenient to use. When you turn on your computer or wake it from sleep, it automatically attempts to connect to TAMULink. You don't need to alter any settings, just enter your NetID and password.
- Flexible. You can roam freely within a building.
- What kind of wireless can I use with TAMULink?
TAMULink wireless network supports nearly all common wireless cards. If you are buying a wireless network card, make sure it is 802.11b/g compliant. Please note that TAMULink does not support 802.11a or 802.11n wireless network cards.
- What if I don't have a wireless card?
You can still connect to the network, but you'll have to connect through one of the public access wired outlets. Currently, the only place where these are located is on the second floor of the Student Computing Center in the "Group Study" area.
- What locations currently offer TAMULink service?
A list of current locations is available on the Locations tab. If other wireless networks appear that do not have the “tamulink” name or are labeled as “computer to computer” or “ad hoc” networks, they are not part of the official TAMULink wireless system. Please note that connecting to “computer to computer” or “ad hoc” networks can be a high security risk.
- What kind of connection/speeds will TAMULink give me?
Currently 802.11g is rated at 54 Mbps. This is a shared network environment and actual speeds may vary. If you are using 802.11b, network speed is significantly reduced.
- Can I roam freely with my TAMULink connection?
Yes, you should be able to roam freely within the building. However, you will not be able to roam from a TAMULink location in one building to a different TAMULink location in another building. That will require reconnecting to TAMULink.
- What do I need to do to get TAMULink service for my building/department?
Send an email to request@tamu.edu.
Please check back for TAMULink Tutorials.
This will eventually be the Tutorials tab.
