TAMULink-WPA for Palm TX Handheld
Introduction
TAMULink-WPA is a new wireless network that allows for greater flexibility and security when accessing the campus wireless network. WPA utilizes the 802.1x wireless technology. This document will detail how to configure a Palm handheld device to connect to this network.
After successfully completing the steps outlined here, you should need to supply a user name and password (if applicable) to connect to tamulink-wpa in the future.
Downloading and Installing the Enterprise Security update
- Older Palms do not have the necessary drivers for WPA-Enterprise authentication, so you must buy the security update from Palm, at: http://www.palm.com/us/software/esu/
- When you download the update, you should get several folders and a Microsoft Word document (called txESUread_me.doc) with instructions about installing the security update on your Palm TX.
- Follow Sections 1 and 2 to prepare your TX and install the update.
Configuration
- Open the Wi-Fi Preferences, click the Network button, and choose 'Edit Network.'
- Highlight the tamulink-wpa network and choose 'Edit' at the bottom.
- The security will by WPA-Enterprise.
- The rest of the default settings should work automatically.
