On July 11, 2008, Apple Computers released version 2.0 of their iPhone operating system. Among the new features of this operating system is the ability for the iPhone to use certificate-based encryption such as that used with the tamulink-wpa network.
In order to use the tamulink-wpa network on your iPhone, you MUST use version 2.0 or greater of the iPhone software. This software is available from Apple and is not supplied by Texas A&M University.
To use the tamulink-wpa network, do the following:
1) Click the Settings button on your iPhone's home screen to go to the Settings menu.
2) Click the General option under Settings [fig. 1].

3) Click the Network option [fig. 2].

4) Click the Wi-Fi option [fig. 3].

5) You should now be presented with three network choices (tamulink-wpa, tamulink-guest and tamulink-help).
6) If you do not have a checkmark next to the tamulink-guest network, please skip to step 10. If you do have a checkmark next to "tamulink-guest," you will need to forget this network before you can successfully connect to the tamulink-wpa network. To do this, start by clicking the small blue arrow to the right of the network name [fig. 4].

7) Click on "Forget This Network" at the top of the screen [fig. 5].

8) Click on "yes" when prompted [fig. 6].

9) Click on the "Wi-Fi Networks" button in the top left corner of the screen to go back to the network listing [fig. 7].

[fig. 7]
10) Click on tamulink-wpa [fig. 8].

11) You will be prompted for a username and password [fig. 9].

12) Enter your NetID and your NetID password in these fields [fig. 10].

[fig. 10]
13) You will be prompted to accept a security certificate from net.tamu.edu. Click on Accept [fig. 11]. If you wish to verify further details of the certificate, you may click on More Details, but this is not necessary to connect to the tamulink-wpa network.

Once you have completed these steps, you should be connected to the tamulink-wpa network. You can verify this in the network list (from step 5) which should have tamulink-wpa selected, as well as by clicking on the iTunes button on your home screen or on the App Store button on your home screen. These two buttons will only work when you have an active Wi-Fi connection (for first generation iPhones) or an active 3G connection (for 3G iPhones).
